When I first heard about the opportunity to work with SAMARCH tagging fish on the river Frome I didn’t hesitate to apply straight away. I was very excited at the prospect of working with fish for the first time especially considering it is something which I always saw as a career for myself. My excitement was met without any disappointment. The team I worked with was an absolute joy and there was always a perfect balance of enjoyment and being able to have a bit of a laugh, and professionalism and making sure the work was always done at the end of the day.
Everyone was friendly and helpful which made learning very easy. The work itself was incredible to be a part of and I’m looking forward to reading about the project and the research that SAMARCH were able to do this year. The only downside was that I wasn’t able to work for longer enough due to other work commitments. Huge thanks to Dylan, Luke, Will and the rest of the team for making the placement even more enjoyable than I though it was going to be and I look forward to doing it again next year!
