I worked on the SAMARCH project for 11 days in September 2021. I gained valuable skills in the methods of electric fishing and got to shadow salmon parr tagging. This experience is something that I can put on my CV as it provided me with fieldwork skills. It was also very beneficial working with experienced scientists from GWCT and Cefas to gain connections for future job prospects. The placement is also a great way to meet students outside of your course and year group. I would recommend this project to anyone who is interested in working in the outdoors.
