Since the first time working with SAMARCH in the Autumn of 2018 I have been truly hooked into the field work the project provides. I have now experienced the parr tagging twice – loved it both times – and last Spring I did a week long period of night shifts with the smolt run work (you’ll find me there again this Spring).
Now I will be joining the SAMARCH research team in February for the third type of annual salmonid field work; the kelt tagging. For what I have heard I can expect some cold weather, lots of rain, fast flowing water and beautiful, big sea trout and salmon kelts. Nothing more I could ask for!
I am truly interested to see the river in the winter with the high, fast flowing water and hoping to catch and tag some gorgeous kelts.
Stay tuned for my final blog about the experience after the first week of February!
